The economy of our Nation does not depend on the prosperity of the large-scale industries, but on the growth and development of the medium and small-scale industries. To enhance the developments in the small- scale sectors there is a need for highly skilled Mechanical Engineers. Thus, it is the responsibility of each technicalinstitute to cater the demand of engineers with global knowledge and practical experience. To meet the needs and challenges, the Department of Mechanical Engineering in ARM College has a firm commitment to develop and produce erstwhile Mechanical Engineers with the latest technical knowledge, good leadership qualities, spirit of competence and selflessness.
Lectures are given in the field of: design in mechanical engineering, numerical methods in design, machine elements, mechanical power transmissions, fluid power systems and control, gear transmissions, tribology, industrial transport equipment and devices, ship's deck machinery, technical logistics, mechatronics, precision engineering, microsystems technologies, MEMS and NEMS, measurement systems, engineering graphics and documenting, modeling by computer, engineering visualization, boundary element method. Lifelong Learning: 3D modeling. Members of the department have taken or take part in several research projects. The results of their research have been published in numerous papers presented at relevant conferences at home and abroad, as well as printed in relevant domestic and foreign journals. The has organized two important international scientific conferences. The Department has cooperated with many industrial entities as well as with numerous foreign and domestictertiary education facilities. Several masters and doctoral theses have been defended at the Department. Several instructional aids have been made and handbooks have been published by members of the Department in order to fulfill the needs of vocational and university studies. The Department of Mechanical Engineering started during 2009-2010 is presently having an intake of 120. The Department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation of AICTE, New Delhi.
The post-graduation course of Engineering Design (ME -ED) was started during the year 2012-2013. The Department is fully equipped with the state of art of Laboratories. Having Design and Analysis of MechanicalSystem, Failure Analysis and Design of Machine
Members, Finite Element Analysis of Structures and Vibration Analysis of Systems. The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides high quality education along with discipline. The Professor and Lecturers make it possible to give individual attention to the learners and to motivate them to achieve their professional goals. The curriculum structure of the department is designed to meet the present day requirement of Industries. The interaction between the staff and students is excellent and all the laboratories are well equipped as per requirements of the curriculum.
